• Hebden Bridge Little Theatre

  120-seat auditorium, home to an amateur company producing up to five plays each year.

• Ilkley Playhouse

  Ilkley Playhouse is home to amateur theatre and other arts activities, including up to 10 productions each year, as well as touring productions and other community arts events.

• Interplay Theatre

• Lawrence Batley Theatre

• Leeds Grand Theatre

  Major touring house and home to Opera North and the Northen Ballet Theatre, the Grand seats over 1500 and has one of the most complete Victorian scenic paint shops left in Great Britain.

  Working in partnership with Talia Theatre, Proper Jobs prodce theatre for socially excluded young people and adults. Its work includes workshops and long-term training opportunities.

• Red Ladder Theatre Company

  Acknowledged as one of Britain's leading national touring companies producing high quality new plays for youth audiences. Following the relocation of Red Ladder’s Asian Theatre School (now Freedom Studios) to Bradford, Red Ladder has created Red Grit, a new actor training project for 18-25s in Leeds.

• Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah

  Established in 1985, The Blahs create participative theatre projects for children and young people as well as touring productions of new writing or devised work.

• Theatre in the Mill

  Part of the University of Bradford, this theatre hosts BUTG, which welcomes any over 16s with an iterest in theatre, stages professional touring theatre and supports the development of new work and local emerging artists.

• Theatre Royal Wakefield

  With just 500 seats, this venue hosts a variety of theatre, music and comedy alongside amateur and youth productions. The theatre has offered a technical training position for the last six years.

• Unlimited Theatre

  Unlimited Theatre tour nationally and internationally, produce new works and run outreach and education programmes.

• Viaduct Theatre, Dean Clough

  Home base of Northern Broadsides, this cellar venue is a receiving house for touring productions and one-off projects.

• Victoria Theatre, Halifax

  After countless name changes, this venue is owned by Calderdale MBC and seats 1,500 for concerts and national touring productions.

• Wakefield Theatre Royal

North Yorkshire

• Friargate Theatre

  100-seat studio theatre in York city centre, owned and managed by Riding Lights, a national touring theatre company.

• Futurist Theatre

  The Futurist provides varied entertainment for both local people and visitors, from children's shows, ballet, one-off concerts, and of course the traditional summer shows. When the Futurist is not presenting live entertainment it reverts to its role as a cinema, with many newly released films.

• Grand Opera House, York

  Originally built as a Corn Exchange, then a concert hall, this large venue offers a mixed programme, hosting national tours of musicals, comedy and theatre.

• Harrogate Theatre

  The Theatre produces five shows each year, takes in touring work from leading companies and, has toured its own work to venues in Yorkshire and nationally. It also runs one of the largest youth theatres in the country.

• Jospeh Rowntree Theatre

  A volunteer run theatre which provides a venue for amateur and professional theatre, dance, music and other stage based events.

• National Student Drama Festival

  Annual event in Scarborough in which two theatres are built from scratch, which then host a week of live performances from new performers.

• North Country Theatre

  North Country specialise in taking professional theatre out into the country, touring arts centres, churches, auction marts, castles and railway waiting rooms!

• Pilot Theatre Company

  A national touring theatre company, based at York Theatre Royal, who host residencies and summer workshops for young people.

• Richmond Georgian Theatre

  Britain's most complete Georgian theatre, seating only 200 and home to an active youth theatre as well as Britain's oldest peiece of scenery!

• Riding Lights Theatre Company

  Incorporating, Riding Lights Roughshod, a professional touring company taking community theatre to a broad audience.

• Settle Victoria Theatre

  150 year old, Grade 2 listed building, originally a Music Hall, restored in 2001, now run as a professional theatre venue.

• Stephen Joseph Theatre

  The Stephen Joseph Theatre was founded in Scarborough by theatrical pioneer Stephen Joseph. The new theatre, known simply as the Stephen Joseph Theatre opened on 30th April 1996 and has two auditoria: The Round, a 404-seat in the round and The McCarthy, a 165-seat endstage/cinema. The building also contains a restaurant, shop, and full front-of-house and backstage facilities.

• York Theatre Royal

  Dating back to 1744, the theatre now offer a wide range of programming including drama, comedy, dance and pantomime. It also runs an extensive programme of workshops and activities for schools and young people.

• Academy Theatre

  Converted from former freezer units, the theatre acts as a performance and technical platform for members of the youth theatre, as well as hosting visiting productions.

• Compass Theatre Company

• Dearne Playhouse

  New arts venue hosting community perfomers, new writers and youth theatre productions.

• Doncaster Civic Theatre

  Forming part of Doncaster Arts Centre, the 495 seater, proscenium auditorium, may soon be replaced by a multi-space "New Performance Venue" with a main auditorium, a second flexible theatre-space, dance and drama studios and rehearsal/ teaching spaces.

• Forced Entertainment

  Experimental theatre company based in Sheffield, working in theatre and performance through digital media and video installations.

• Lamproon Theatre

  Barnsley's only theatre, a former Methodist chapel, now hosts a variety of theatre and community events

• Point Blank Theatre Company

  Point Blank is the professional touring company in residence at the Open Performance Centre in Sheffield, founded in 1999 by co-artistic directors Steve Jackson and Liz Tomlin. Point Blank creates vivid meta-theatrical scenarios where characters play out their own real or imagined crises. Each work addresses vital political and cultural themes from challenging perspectives. The company produces original poetic narratives within a rich, often physical, visual style.

• Rotheram Civic Theatre

  Converted from a Congregational Church to create an intimate medium scale, proscenium arch performance space, the theatre plays host to many companies throughout the year.

• Rotherham Arts Centre

  Studio theatre which presents innovative and experimental touring dance, drama, music events and children’s theatre

• Sheffield Theatres

• Swamp Circus Trust

  Swamp Circus was started in a disused steel works, in Sheffield in 1986, by local acrobats, jugglers, aerial performers and other trapeze artists. It has grown into a national company. Swamp Circus provides quality circus entertainment for a host of events and venues and runs projects that teach new skills and bring performing arts back into the community

Hull and the Humber

• Donald Roy Theatre and Studio, Gulbenkian Centre

  Arts complex within the University of Hull, with two adaptable performance spaces, rehearsal spaces and design and constructin facilities.

• Fusion Theatre

  Offers professional work for artists & companies as well as providing opportunities and experiences for young people & the community.

• Futurist Theatre

  Seating over 2000, this venue hosts a range of touring productions, as well as functioning as a cinema

• Grimsby Auditorium

  Opened in 1995 as the area's largest professional theatre, this multi-purpose entertainments facility stages concerts for audiences of 1215 seated and 2053 standing.

• Hull New Theatre

  Premier touring venue, with mixed programme of musicals, opera, ballet, drama, children’s shows and one night performances.

• Hull Truck Theatre Company

  One of only six producing theatres in the Yorkshire region, Hull Truck pride themselves on making theatre accessible and offer a youth theatre, work experience and creative training opportunities.

• Northern Theatre Company

  Founded in 1975, the company now runs the Northern Academy of Performing Arts offering training and performances at its Studio 2 theatre.

• Plowright Theatre

  Recently refurbished provincial small to medium touring theatre, serving professional and amateur productions, music and performance arts events.

• Stephen Joseph Theatre

  Large theatre-in-the-round, housed in a former 1930s cinema and playing host to a large youth theatre.

• The Gate
