Clever thinking
Other ways of getting work experience include:
- Joining a youth theatre
- Doing a Creative Apprenticeship
- Volunteering. Check out vinspired
- Work shadowing (ie following a theatre professional around for a day or two, obviously with their permission. Otherwise, it’s simply stalking)
- Studying for The Diploma in Creative & Media
- Taking a casual job in a local theatre eg stage hand, usher, bar work
- Working somewhere other than a theatre where you can learn similar skills eg a cinema, a music venue, at an outdoor event, a conference or exhibition etc
- Doing an Arts Award
North East training with bursary
InterACT is a year-long training scheme for graduate actors, directors, designers and stage managers, run by Northumberland Theatre Company.
You are eligible to apply if you originate from Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Cleveland, Durham or Cumbria or studied for a degree in those counties.
All InterACT trainees receive a modest training bursary and some additional support for travel and relocation.
