Performance Ushers and Front of House Volunteers - London

This is a voluntary position

The Old Vic Tunnels and Ditch need Performance ushers and Front of House Volunteers

We are looking for a swarm of individuals to inhabit The Old Vic Tunnels and create the space around the show.

No experience necessary, the individuals need to be energetic and that is the main trait want. The roles are varying from performance ushers, to selling programmes to helping behind the bar. Chances are you will do all of these things at some point.

For actors amongst you we will be happy to confirm credits for acting CVs once you have worked on four shows. The more the merrier, and there will be further rewards for doing a murder of shows.

For those looking to gain theatre experience, you are truly worth your weight in gold, again no experience necessary. We will shower you with gratitude and hopefully make you have a brilliant time. The least will be a much needed drink at the end of the show.

There is a Facebook group that is free for all to join, where we can all swap stories, put up pictures (although we advise against taking photos during the show) and create something amazing. Look for Old Vic Tunnels Underground.

There are shows Monday to Saturday, with two shows on a Friday night and Saturday, a matinee and evening performance.

  • Volunteering. Check out vinspired
  • Work shadowing (ie following a theatre professional around for a day or two, obviously with their permission. Otherwise, it’s simply stalking)
  • Studying for The Diploma in Creative & Media
  • Taking a casual job in a local theatre eg stage hand, usher, bar work
  • Working somewhere other than a theatre where you can learn similar skills eg a cinema, a music venue, at an outdoor event, a conference or exhibition etc
  • Doing an Arts Award
