Youth arts project worker (theatre-based)
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Artisitic/ Young People:
- to lead theatre and related performance workshops and events and to direct at least two projects a year
- to contribute to the planning and operation of the arts education programme with the Head of Arts Education, Artistic Director and other Theatre staff
- to work alongside staff, sessional tutors and visiting artists/companies to deliver a programme of work with and for young people and to ensure that the focus of the work is the personal, social, artistic and cultural development of young people
- to liaise with groups, individuals, organisations and other professionals to ensure effective partnerships and support for the arts education programme
- to contribute to and develop the outreach provision, including arts education projects with schools
- to contribute to the supervision of artists/companies in the arts education residency programme
- to actively involve young people in a wide range of activities and governance at the theatre
- trganise and supervise the placement programme for school and college students within the department
Project Management:
- to be responsible for project administration and planning, including the organisation of the documentation, evaluation and reports for projects under the post holder’s management
- to prepare and contribute to reports and information as may be required by the Head of Arts Education
- to support other project leaders and participants in order to ensure the smooth running of activities
- to prepare information and materials ready for marketing youth theatre or theatre projects, workshops and productions
- to be responsible for preparing and working within project budgets and for keeping an accurate financial record on work undertaken
- to line manage and supervise sessional tutors and artists
General:
- to undertake any other duties in line with the nature and grade of this post as requested by the Head of Arts Education
- to have input into theatre policy matters, strategies and business and artistic planning, as part of the theatre’s policy on inclusive and consultative practice
- to carry out the duties of this post in accordance with the theatre’s equal opportunities, access, employment, Health and Safety and inclusion policies
- to attend staff and other planning meetings where appropriate

This job description will be reviewed with the post holder annually or at significant points for the organisation.
All theatre staff are administratively self-supporting with support given around specific areas of work within the individual and organisation’s workplan.
