Technical stage manager/ technical manager (touring)
JOB DESCRIPTION
- liaison with the Executive Producer regarding ground plans and technical specifications for all venues
- liaison with venues re. lighting and all technical plans and get-in arrangements
- take a lead in unloading, loading, assembly and operating all elements of the production
- work closely with the Tour Manager to expedite the above and maintain close relationships with the performing company
- work with the Artistic Director to manage rehearsals and liaise with the Lighting Designer on creative rehearsal processes
- run the local crew
- run the performance as stage manager and operate technical elements as required
- manage and maintain scenery, props
- manage checklists prior to each performance and ensure all elements are preset and working correctly
- report any issues, requirements, requests to the Artistic Director or Executive Producer at the earliest opportunity
- manage and maintain the tour hardware stock
- manage and update production, touring and venue-related risk assessments at regular intervals
- be seen to ensure safety is a primary concern for all persons involved with the production
- ensure that the management approves requests which have financial implications
- comply with venue specific safe working practice and methodology
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- experience in stage lighting and sound practice
- experience in rehearsal processes
- experience in manual handling and safe working practices
- experience in the leading/ overseeing of crews
- a good understanding of technical drawings/ground plans
- the ability to work to schedule and meet deadlines
- the ability to work well under pressure
- good communication skills
- a clean and up-to-date driving licence
