Programme director (homeless people's theatre company)
Accountable to:
Managing Director
Responsible For:
Project Manager: Core Workshop Programme/ Project Manager: Hostel Tour/ Project Manager: Hostel Workshop/ Short Term Contract Staff
Objectives of the post:
- to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated approach to provision of our programmes for homeless and ex-homeless people in London
- to develop and manage strategic relationships with service providers, London boroughs and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies with the aim of maximising both the impact of the company’s activities and the resources available to deliver them.
- to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of all work for homeless and ex-homeless people in London.
- to work with the Senior Management Team to develop new projects in London, particularly working with those who are vulnerably housed or in poor accommodation
- to, as part of the Senior Management Team, contribute to the development of the company
- to manage the programme team
MAIN DUTIES
External Relations and Funding:
- in consultation with the Managing Director to develop relationships, at a strategic level, with statutory and voluntary sector organisations working with homeless and ex-homeless people, the vulnerably and poorly housed and people at risk of homelessness
- to develop partnerships and relationships that will increase the resources available to the company’s activities through contracts with other agencies and grants from statutory bodies, or “add value” to the company’s activities
- to work with the Managing Director to develop new projects and programmes that meet the company’s aims and objectives, developing proposals and partnerships and securing funding
- to liaise with the Managing Director and Marketing Manager over funding possibilities and the submission of applications
- to write reports, as required, by funders and other partners
Project and Service Delivery:
- to manage delivery of two-year statutory funding contract with the London Development Agency, ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled
- to manage all other service delivery contracts relating to the London activities, ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled
- to work with appropriate staff to ensure an integrated approach to the delivery of activities for homeless, ex-homeless and vulnerably or poorly housed people in London
- to, in partnership with the Project Manager, ensure the effective and efficient delivery and development of the company’s core workshop programme for homeless and ex-homeless people
- to, in partnership with the Project Manager, ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the hostel tour
- to liaise with the Artistic Director and other members of Artistic Team to ensure that activities are delivered to the highest artistic standards
- to liaise with the Artistic Director and other members of Artistic Team over the development of activities ensuring that they meet the company’s artistic objectives
- to be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of other projects in London as directed by the Managing Director
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- to ensure that the company’s monitoring and evaluation systems meet the requirements of the company, funders and partners
- to be responsible for the continued development of the company’s monitoring and evaluation procedures
- to ensure that all appropriate staff and trained in the implementation of the company’s monitoring and evaluation systems
Other:
- to, as member of the Senior Management Team, contribute to the development of the company, its work programmes, policies and procedures
- to actively work within the company’s equal opportunities and access policies and the Health & Safety policy
- undertake any other duty, which may reasonably be allocated by the Managing Director
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- knowledge of arts and cultural activities in a social inclusion and/ or regeneration context
- project development and management skills
- negotiation skills
- experience of partnership development and working
- knowledge of statutory funding
- experience of developing and writing statutory funding bids
- experience of report writing
- experience of managing partnership and/ or service delivery contracts
- experience of managing and motivating staff
- knowledge of current issues and policies in the area of arts and inclusion
- experience of setting up and managing monitoring and evaluation systems
- experience of managing budgets
- knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable:
- knowledge of current issues and policies in homelessness
*knowledge of soft outcomes in an education and learning context - knowledge of specific issues facing homeless people
