Playwright in residence

Responsible to:

Artistic Director and the housing association sponsoring the role

Duties:

* to attend regular group sessions held in the local community such as local schools, after school clubs, groups for older people, youth clubs and groups for parents in order to meet with local people and identify issues and ideas of interest to them * to attend regular review and planning meetings with the theatre and housing association * to plan and lead appropriate programmes of workshops with a range of groups and communities * to develop ideas culminating in a performance or other sharing of work with the local community * to contribute appropriately to the theatre’s newsletters * to write an evaluative report on the residency

Administration:

* to keep accurate records of all sessions/meetings attended for project monitoring * to attend and contribute to meetings, including staff and project meetings * to be self sufficient in the administrative elements of the work

General:

* to be fully aware of all theatre and housing association policies and to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with these policies with particular reference to: Child Protection, Confidentiality, Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities * to undertake duties associated with the post as requested

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* proven professional experience as a playwright * a track record of leading creative workshops with a variety of participants including young people and older people * knowledge of/ interest in the area and the communities who live there. * access to email and appropriate computer facilities at home

The successful candidate will need to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check.
