Sales & marketing manager (arts centre)
DEPARTMENT:SALES & MARKETING

Box Office & Internet Development Manager/ Marketing Officer (Press)/ Marketing Officer (Print & Publications)/ Student Placements/ Volunteers/ Staff Allocated on a project basis
Purpose of Post:
- to be responsible for the sales, marketing and audience development
- to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, which will increase attendance and earned income, develop new audiences and revenue streams, and present a high and positive profile to the public for all aspects of our work
- to be responsible for the Box Office & Internet Development Manager, Marketing Officers and other staff and volunteers that may from time-to-time be engaged and organise the scheduling of their duties efficiently within the budgetary constraints
- to be a member of the Senior Management Team and take a lead on all sales and marketing led aspects of the organisations work
Duties and Responsibilities:
- to provide strategic leadership for the sales and marketing department.
- to create and implement of an integrated sales and marketing strategy in conjunction with Chief Executive
- to develop and implement sales projects to maximise the range and effectiveness of a variety of sales streams in conjunction with the Box Office & Internet Development Manager
- to maintain and develop the strongly-defined brand of the venue to its potential users and ensure that it is represented with consistent quality in all marketing material
- to forward plan campaigns including seasons and any incentives designed to maximise audiences and box office revenue
- to hold overall responsibility for print management
- to oversee the continuing development of the web sales strategy and oversee design & workings of our website and online booking facility in conjunction with the Box Office & Internet Development Manager
- to plan and implement assessment of all aspects of corporate image, including extensive market research, with a view to creating a new image in conjunction with the Chief Executive
- to work with the Box Office & Internet Services Manager and Chief Executive to develop and target new audiences and lead on audience development projects independently and in association with partners
- to ensure, in conjunction with the Marketing Officer (Press), that we have the best possible relationship with all local, regional and national media and achieves maximum coverage
- to undertake market research within existing and potential audiences to assess the effectiveness of current activities and monitor audience profiles
- to provide and assist the education & outreach department with marketing support and advice
- to provide and assist the Business Development Manager with statistical information and material for the production of sponsorship proposals
- to lead on all aspects of sales and marketing with all partner organisations, both internal and external
- to sit on local and regional committees as appropriate and participate in networking events as and when necessary
- to deputise for Chief Executive at meetings on sales and marketing-related matters as required
- to collaborate with other staff on specific promotional projects and schemes
- to assist amateur and other user groups to develop their own publicity and marketing skills through training and support, so as to ensure a consistently high quality of all events and activities
Budgetary Management:
- to liaise with the Chief Executive and Finance Manager on the preparation and agreement of the Sales and Marketing budgets
- to have responsibility for the efficient and effective management of delegated budgets
- to maintain up-to-date, accurate budgetary records
- to ensure that financial procedures, policies and guidelines are complied with at all times
Planning and Project Management:
- in conjunction with the Chief Executive to prepare and revise appropriate plans and policies for the effective marketing of the organisation and contribute to its future development
- to lead on, and see through to completion special projects relating to marketing and audience development as directed by the Chief Executive
Monitoring:
- to agree and monitor attendances in relation to income in conjunction with the Chief Executive and Programmer
- to analyse and evaluate the ticket pricing policy, in conjunction with the Chief Executive and Finance Manager
- to ensure that our audience database is maintained and updated as necessary; and to exploit the database as a major marketing tool for marketing and research purposes
Personnel Management:
- provide direction, instruction, guidance, support and supervision to staff under his/ her control
- work to ensure high levels of morale motivation and communication amongst staff at all times
- participate in the recruitment, and selection of relevant staff
- appraise and monitor the performance of designated staff according to the staff appraisal policy and procedures
Miscellaneous:
- to be familiar and comply with all relevant Health and Safety, operational, personnel, data protection and financial regulations, policies and procedures
- to undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as from time to time may be required, in consultation with the post holder

Special Conditions
The post holder will be required to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as part of their normal working week.
The post holder does not qualify for overtime payments and enhancements.
This post is based on a 40 hour all-inclusive week.
