Marketing officer (repertory theatre)
DEPARTMENT:SALES & MARKETING

Sales & Marketing Manager
Responsible for:

Purpose of Post:
- to be a key member of the Sales and Marketing Team
- to be responsible for all aspects of public relations and media liaison at the venue as the primary performing arts provider in the region
- to actively seek promotional opportunities through the media for the venue at local, regional and national level
- to present a high and positive profile to the public for all aspects of our work
- te responsible for the management of all media opportunities feeding into our marketing and audience development strategy
Duties and Responsibilities:
- to ensure that the venue has the best possible relationship with all local, regional and where appropriate national media
- to develop a press & public relations strategy, focusing particularly on the building of PR contacts at regional and national level
- to work closely with all forms of media, including press, radio and television, building good relationships to ensure that all opportunities are taken advantage of to achieve maximum quality coverage
- to research and write press releases, compile press packs and co-ordinate press mailings
- to work proactively and closely with all departments and organisations based within the venue, to seek a wide range of publicity generating opportunities
- to provide creative input into the marketing strategy, generating original promotional ideas
- to liaise with visiting companies and their management to maximise press coverage for visiting productions
- to ensure that our ‘in house’ productions are promoted effectively at local and regional levels wherever possible in the media
- to organise, manage and attend press nights, ensuring their effective co-ordination, and entertaining press and other guests on those occasions and at other functions as required in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing Manager
- to devise and implement press promotions in conjunction with the marketing team
- to organise photo calls and maintain a photo file in conjunction with the sales and marketing team
- to accompany interviewees on press calls and brief them in advance
- to maximise media coverage for all aspects of the venue’s work and its programme
- to monitor press and media coverage, maintaining a centralised press cuttings file, whilst ensuring the effective circulation of cuttings to all relevant staff, board members and visiting companies
- to plan and implement editorial campaigns in conjunction with the Sales & Marketing Manager
- to take responsibility for range of marketing activities as specified by the Sales & Marketing Manager
- to support the development of the internal communications strategy with specific reference to maintaining regular newletters
- to collaborate with other staff on specific promotional projects and schemes
- to assist amateur and other user groups to develop their own PR skills through training and support, so as to ensure a consistently high quality of all events and activities
Budgetary Management:
- to have responsibility for the efficient and effective management of delegated budgets
- to maintain up to date and accurate budgetary records
- ensure that financial procedures, policies and guidelines are complied with at all times
Planning and Project Management:
- in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Manager prepare and revise appropriate plans and policies for the effective marketing of the organisation and contribute to its future development
- to lead on, and see through to completion special projects relating to marketing and audience development as directed by Sales & Marketing Manager
Monitoring:
- to agree and monitor attendances in relation to income in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Manager
- analyse and evaluate the ticket pricing policy, in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Manager and Chief Executive
- ensure that the audience database is maintained and updated as necessary; and exploit the database as a major marketing tool for marketing and research purposes
Personnel Management:
- provide direction, instruction, guidance, support and supervision to staff who may be occasionally under his/ her control
- work to ensure high levels of morale, motivation and communication amongst staff at all times
- participate in the recruitment, and selection of relevant staff
- appraise and monitor the performance of designated staff according to staff appraisal policy and procedures
Miscellaneous:
- to be familiar and comply with all relevant Health and Safety, operational, personnel, data protection and financial regulations, policies and procedures
- to undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as from time to time may be required, in consultation with the post holder

Special Conditions
The post holder will be required to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as part of their normal working week.
The post holder does not qualify for overtime payments and enhancements.
