Marketing officer (arts centre) A

To play a key role in the promotion of all aspects of our work, including events within the performance programme and learning and participation programme, retailing, catering and the building itself.

Duties:

  • to co-ordinate all aspects of the creation and dissemination of the marketing team’s materials
  • maintaining the print schedule – lead times, copy deadlines, sign-off dates etc. – and disseminating the deadlines to relevant colleagues
  • getting quotes from printers for print jobs, and in consultation with the team deciding on which company to use
  • keeping the print job spec file up to date
  • ensuring all materials and services ordered by the team are properly specified, quoted for and ordered through our system (requisition number and purchase order raised)
  • co-ordinating the distribution of publicity materials regionally and nationally
  • to assist with the creation of promotional materials and opportunities
  • assisting with the planning, scheduling and implementation of direct mail and e-mail campaigns
  • working within the marketing and media and PR team to identify and implement internal and external promotional opportunities
  • assisting in the creation of direct mail letters and e-mails for promotional campaigns
  • collating information for marketing copy, including doing research and checks to ensure accuracy of details
  • assisting in the proofing of promotional materials
  • assisting the Head of Marketing in the liaison with external design, print and publishing companies; to use the marketing side of the organisation’s customer relationship management system (Tessitura)
  • identifying and generating lists for postal and electronic mailings in consultation with the marketing team
  • mapping these lists into the marketing structure of Tessitura
  • ensuring up-to-date promotional codes in Tessitura, and the communication of those codes and related materials to relevant colleagues

    Knowledge, experience and skills:
  • educated to A-level or equivalent qualification
  • two to five years experience in arts or education marketing
  • experience of customer relationship management systems
  • excellent IT literacy
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write clear, well structured and relevant promotional material and copy
  • effective planning skills and the ability to meet deadlines
    *creativity and the ability to contribute to the ideas of the department
  • research skills, able to collate information for the promotion of events via web research, using reference tools, press review and similar
  • attention to detail and proof reading skills
  • customer care skills
  • negotiation skills, able to negotiate with colleagues and external partners to achieve positive results
  • degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • appropriate marketing qualification
