Job description

Marketing manager (theatre-based)

Responsible to:
The Director

Aim of post:
The effective promotion of events and development of the brand through a variety of marketing and audience development initiatives.

Job Objective:

  • to manage and deliver effective brand and event marketing and audience development campaigns for the theatre in consultation with the Director and to manage other casual and temporary staff as necessary

Responsible for:
Managing casual staff and volunteers as required/ Managing relationships with designers, distribution, print companies/ Servicing relationships with key potential funders and sponsors/ Managing the
marketing budget

Liases with:
Director, Administration Manager, Ticket Office Manager, Press & PR Manager, Operations Manager, Young Peoples Programmer, visiting companies & artists, a variety of outside organisations, companies and agencies

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Collaborate with the Director and management team on the continued strategic development of the brand through ensuring a consistent and coherent approach across all media.

Print:

  • collate, compile, write copy for and proof season brochure
  • manage design, print and distribution of the season brochure
  • design and manage print of postcard flyers and other event-specific print
  • managing design, print and display of Front of House print
  • manage design, print distribution and display of posters
  • commission photographers and designers

Website & Internet:

  • regularly monitor and update website
  • maintain e-marketing lists
  • generate & deliver all e-marketing activity

Advertising:

  • identify and buy appropriate advertising space as appropriate

OTHER DUTIES

  • monitor sales for all events
  • produce reports as appropriate on marketing activity
  • seek new opportunities for sales promotions
  • liaise with the Director, Press & PR Manager and other staff to deliver audience development initiatives
  • support the Young Peoples Programmer in the design, production and distribution of schools mailings & other related initiatives
  • identify commercial opportunities for the organisation
  • assist in the continuing development of relationships with sponsors and funders
  • represent the marketing department as required at meetings
  • liaise with marketing representatives from visiting companies, artists and agents
