Job description

Marketing assistant (theatre-based)

The Marketing Assistant reports to The Marketing Manager, and his/ her day to day work is overseen by the Marketing and Press Officer. S/ he is responsible for supporting the Marketing and Press Officer and Marketing Manager in all aspects of marketing, press and publicity. S/he will be a member of the marketing team which is managed by The Marketing Manager and also includes Box Office Manager and Box Office Cashiers.

Specific duties include:-

Show Campaigns:

  • assist with implementing individual show marketing campaigns
  • provide visiting companies with weekly sales figures

Press:

  • collate, copy and circulate press cuttings and reviews
  • assist with organisation of press interviews / photocalls etc

Print:

  • collate brochure information from visiting companies and hirers
  • obtain print and design quotes
  • co-ordinate production of print for productions
  • assist with co-ordinating content for programmes

Direct mail:

  • oversee execution of mailings
  • recruit and co-ordinate volunteers to assist with mailings

Distribution:

  • liaise with distribution companies and casual staff to ensure that distribution is undertaken

Advertising:

  • assist with design of adverts

Website and e-marketing;

  • update and maintain content of website
  • send emails to e-mailing list and monitor responses accordingly

Other:

  • maintain front of house and on-site display on a daily/weekly basis * administrate existing members of friends scheme
  • co-ordinate distribution of our Newsletter

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • a strong interest in theatre and the arts
  • excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • creativity and flair
  • the ability to manage a heavy workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • strong IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office software, including databases and the internet
  • team work and interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to develop good relationships with internal and external contacts, including volunteers and suppliers

Desirable:

  • educated to degree level, preferably in the Arts or English
  • experience/knowledge of graphic and/or web design packages would be an advantage
  • a full driving license and use of a car
