Job description

Finance manager (theatre-based)

Specific Duties:

  • to supervise and implement the book-keeping and accounting function
  • to produce financial and management figures (using Quickbooks) for the theatre venue and all associated operations including: sole productions, co-productions, lettings and hires, clubs and workshops, outreach activities, promotional events and attendant fundraising activities, shop and cafe services
  • to produce and administrate the weekly and monthly payroll including the stakeholder pension scheme and monthly inland revenue returns and payments
  • to administrate VAT and quarterly returns
  • to be the first point of contact in the banking relationship and manage the cashflow
  • to provide management information including monthly management accounts, budget monitoring by department, industry statistic requirements and administrative system reviews. such other duties as may, from time to time, be required

Essential Skills:

  • good working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting and payroll software (currently using Pro 2005, soon to be upgraded to 2007)
    bility to ensure that QuickBooks is set up to provide reports, as required
  • good working knowledge of Excel
  • experience of administering payroll (variable weekly staff including Equity regulated contracts, hourly employees, weekly and monthly salaried staff and pension scheme)
  • administration of high turnover purchase ledger and petty cash demands
  • ssystematic record keeping (filing systems to support Quickbooks and HM Customs and Revenue)

    Desirable Skills:
  • experience of cash reporting – ticketing system, merchandise and rental income
  • onversant with general IT, including LAN environment
  • experience of preparing draft annual accounts

    Essential Qualities:
  • a willingness to take responsibility and work on own initiative
  • organised and highly numerate, with excellent attention to detail
  • ability to work to tight deadlines

    Desirable Qualities:
