Depending on the size and resources of the theatre, this role is sometimes covered by the production manager. He or she ensures that the building and plant (heating, ventilation, and utilities) are well maintained and fully operational. They also have a responsibility for maintaining the fabric of the building, and may also be the person who hires out the various areas of the theatre, such as the auditorium, studio theatre and rehearsal room, to other organisations and individuals.
