Education officer (circus)
This is a new post created to support the Community and Education Producer with the smooth running of the programme. The post holder will be line managed by the Community and Education Producer.
This is a part-time post (20 hours per week) and the post holder will be employed on a PAYE basis.
KEY TASKS
These will include:
- taking bookings for workshops, agreeing fees, making all practical arrangements
- providing the bookkeeper with all relevant information for the issuing of invoices and the tracking and authorising of payments
- contracting tutors from within our established pool of freelance practitioners and providing them with the information needed to fulfil their contracts effectively
- seeking feedback from partners and learners as part of the company’s continual process of performance monitoring and evaluation
- maintaining accurate records of all activity and compiling data to support the company’s continual process of target monitoring and evaluation
- marketing all activity to potential partners and participants
- ensuring that all company policies are maintained, and in particular ensuring that the company complies with all relevant legislation in respect of child protection and health and safety
- recommending improvements where necessary to the Community & Education Producer
- working with the director of circus and community to develop new strands of community and education work and new and exciting community and education projects
This role is currently part-time. However we anticipate that the right candidate will be able to increase activity and could become full-time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic and enthusiastic person to join our team, to support and grow our community and education activities.
Essential
- proven computer skills with experience of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- good administration and organisational skills with the ability to keep clear and accurate records
- friendly approachable manner and positive attitude. Experience of working with a wide variety of people, both professionals and volunteers.
- a good understanding of the community arts sector
- ability to plan work and time independently, but also as part of a small team
- experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines
- current driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable
- understanding of arts development practise
- an interest and knowledge of circus arts
- desk top publishing skills
- marketing and audience development experience
