Education officer (arts centre)
The Education Officer is responsible to the Education Director, who in turn is responsible to the General Manager and Artistic Director for the delivery of the Education & Social Inclusion Programme, which is mainly, but not exclusively, for young people up to the age of twenty six years.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- to co-ordinate and oversee the social inclusion programme
- abide by and promote the ethos of the social inclusion programme and the theatre
- programme and develop activities in the creative space and off-site, including lesson/ workshop planning.
- manage the projects and activities comprising the social inclusion programme including: recruiting, contracting and monitoring workshop facilitators; recruiting and registering participants; monitoring and evaluation of participants, projects and achievements; marketing and promotion of activities when applicable; maintaining records of activities
- construct budgets for individual activities and projects and annually for the programme as a whole, in conjunction with the General Manager and the Development Director
- apply for funding to charitable foundations, trusts and other bodies, in liaison with the Development Director. The programme is self-funded
- report on and account for the spending of any grants and funding received
- provide weekly written reports to the Education Director, Development Director, General Manager and Artistic Director of the theatre
- make annual presentations to the Board of Directors
- liaise with relevant associates with regard to current and future projects
- continue to develop partnerships with other community organisations
- engage workshop leaders with due regard to the equal opportunities policy
- in the event of the absence of a workshop leader run the workshop
- deputise for & assist the Education Director as requested which will include working alternate Saturdays
- be proficient in the use of Word and Excel
- be prepared to attend training courses as necessary eg first aid, health & safety
- assist with special events
- deal with enquiries to the education department in person and by telephone
- attend weekly staff meetings
