Job description

Education coordinator (theatre-based)

Responsible to:
Artistic Director, Executive Producer

Specific Responsibilities:

  • to create, manage and administrate projects that support the artistic work of the theatre, develop future audiences and train the next generation of new artists
  • to deliver projects that nurture and support emerging artists
  • to promote the theatre as a valuable resource to all areas of the community, both locally and regionally
  • to create and develop close relations with schools, training and education partners and community groups
  • to research, initiate and manage projects aimed at enhancing appreciation of theatre, new writing and related arts
  • to recruit and manage workshop leaders and assistants as appropriate
  • to promote the theatre’s work through outreach workshops, especially to those who would not normally come to the theatre
  • to lead occasional workshops, talks and events and represent the theatre at conferences and industry events as appropriate
  • to monitor and evaluate activity and produce reports as appropriate
  • to attend read-throughs, rehearsals (as required), previews and press nights
  • to attend a weekly company meeting and act always in the best interest of the theatre
  • other general duties as required

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:
  • proven experience in arts educational systems
  • proven experience/ understanding of vocational training
  • proven experience of professional theatre production
  • experience of working with young people
  • experience of working with community groups
  • experience of project management
  • excellent budget control
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • excellent organisational skills
  • ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • a proven interest and knowledge in new writers/writing
  • excellent attention to detail
  • computer literate, including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet, e-mail
