This role is sometimes titled administrative producer or general manager. Along with the artistic director, they report directly to the board/ trustees, and are the most senior member of the management team. They are responsible for the overall management of the organisation, and will have overall responsibility for finance, contracts, legal requirements, premises, health and safety, staffing, productions and all other departments in the organisation.
