Using the Arts with Young People at Risk

Artsplan, the training and publications department of Artswork and in-house training provider for ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network), is delivering the established one day course ‘Using the Arts with Young People at Risk’ on 24th Noveber 2010, 10 am- 4.15 pm at Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham.

Artsplan is the largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK and all training and publications are written and supported by experienced youth arts specialists, currently involved in direct project work with young people.

This course gives an overview of the benefits of using the arts with young people at risk and covers essential areas when doing so. Participants are given an understanding of youth arts and youth culture and the skill set needed to successfully design, fund, manage and market an appropriate arts project. Current CRB child protection legislation will be considered, ensuring your youth arts project complies with the recommended guidelines.

Rachel Preston, Artsplan Development Manager, comments: ‘This course is suitable for anyone currently using or looking to use the arts with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, including youth workers, artists, arts venues, councils and other similar roles’.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the course, and a wealth of practical resources, including a copy of the Artsplan published guidelines ‘Using the Arts with Young People at Risk’ (RRP £7.50). Prices for the course, which include lunch and refreshments, range from £110 to £150, with limited bursaries also available.
