Landing On The Moon

REHEARSALS: 4.30-7.30pm, Thursday 15th, 22nd & 29th May 2008 / PERFORMANCE: 7.30pm, Friday 30th May 2008

The chance to take part in rehearsals to devise a brand new show to be performed as part of Sutton's IMAGINE Festival of Participatory Arts in May 2008.

A SAVVY Community Theatre project that will give young and old the chance to take part in workshops to devise a short one act play, based on the 1969 moon landings.

Over three weeks of rehearsals the cast will devise a brand new show to be performed as part of A TRIO OF TALES evening at the Charles Cryer Theatre on Friday, 30th May 2008.

The evening will also contain the following performances:

THE GHOST OF JERRY BUNDLER
by W.W.Jacobs & Charles Rock
An encore performance of this play as showcased by the SAVVY Young Company at the 2008 Leatherhead Drama Festival.

THE MONDAY MORNING RIOTS
by Nathan Hughes
The first official production by SAVVY’s Adult Company and featuring performances by two of SAVVY's former Young Company members.

PLEASE NOTE:
- It is free to take part in this event however due to popularity, places on this project are limited and are given out on strictly first-come-first-served basis.
- priority will be given to people living in and around Sutton however, anybody living outside this area interested in taking part will be placed on a waiting list and contacted in the week prior if space is available.
- Any children under 10years of age that wish to take part, must be accompanied by an adult.
- Performing onstage is not a compulsory element to the project.

Theatre making grants, south east

No Strings Attached is a new grant scheme to help young people make their first piece of theatre. Grants of between £500 and £1,000 are available to young people from across the South East region.

The scheme is one of 10 pilot projects supported by the Arts Council England’s Young People’s Participatory Theatre’ programme (YPPT) funded by the DCMS. The grant is managed by Farnham Maltings.

Who is it for?

The grant is for anyone aged between 18 and 25 who hasn’t previously received a grant for the arts. You can apply as an individual or as part of a group.
