Street/circus arts (foundation)
The festival, street and site specific arts foundation degree at Northbrook College was devised in response to student demand and a commissioned report identifying Brighton and the region as an important focus for street arts and outdoor arts development. It balances performance skills and craft development, production/event and industry experience with academic study.
Modules include physical theatre and acro-balance, characterisation and vocal techniques, movement studies, site specific performance, mask work, mime work, festival and carnival costume, prop design and making, make-up, installations and structures, use of technical equipment in temporary environments, funding applications, arts administration and small business start-up.
The foundation degree in circus arts at The Circus Space aims to equip students to find employment with existing performing arts companies or to establish new companies of their own. This unique degree will appeal to those with some experience in circus, gymnastics, performance or dance who would relish the opportunity to experiment, cross-fertilise and create new work with other talented performers.
