Hometown
Born in Wroughton, Wiltshire, moved around the world with the RAF, then returned to Swindon

What do you do?
Accounts manager, Wyvern Theatre, Swindon

Have you got qualifications?
I’m a part-qualified accountant, now qualified by experience

Did you work in another industry before the theatre?
Lots of other industries: firms of accountants, engineering companies, surveyors and estate agents – all as accountant/ accounts manager

How did you make the move to working in theatre?
I saw an advert for accounts manager, and I loved the idea of the challenge of learning about a new industry

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A forensic scientist (too much Quincy!), but no interest in the route to this – doctor then surgeon, so it was never a realistic idea

What do you do all day?
I cash up the ticket office and front of house, check floats, enter all information onto the computerised accounts system and keep petty cash

What’s the best thing about your job?
The staff are so friendly and all departments work well together

And the worst?
I love being busy but sometimes this job can have a lot which has to be completed at the same time

What’s your dream job in theatre?
I am very happy in the position I am in

Got any wise words for someone who wants to be where you are now?
Find a job you really love, use any experience you can get, and be prepared to be flexible
