Youth theatre director AIM OF POST

A key member of the education team, the youth theatre director will lead four satellite youth theatres.

Duties:

• run satellite workshops in neighbourhoods across the city and the region
• direct productions for the youth theatre at the theatre and in community venues
• work with the literary department on the young writers programme
• lead and deliver drama workshops in community settings with children, young people and adults
• work with Director and Education Director to create, monitor and review the theatre’s education strategy within the context of the current artistic policy
• work with Director and Education Director to devise and deliver a programme of education work for the theatre that reflects a commitment to the concept of life-long learning and that offers a broad range of opportunities for people regardless of age, ethnic background, gender, culture and ability
• work with Director and Education Director to devise and deliver within the annual programme a range of participatory opportunities that foster self-expression, creativity and an enthusiasm for the performing arts
• keep abreast of local, national and international developments in youth theatre and ensure that the theatre is at the forefront of development in such areas
• work with Director and Education Director and the theatre’s marketing and development team to ensure that all education activities are well publicised
• ensure compliance at all times with the theatre’s equal opportunities and Health & Safety polices and practices
• undertake any other relevant duties as may from time to time be required by the Education Director
