Working in this department means making, co-ordinating and maintaining all the weaponry in any production – a highly specialist role. It would usually involve speaking to and working with the director, the fight director and the stage management team – particularly to ensure safety. The weapons might include daggers, swords, other knives and guns.

Many people who work in this role do so in a freelance capacity and therefore also work on TV and film productions as well as in the theatre.
